zold
Does anyone have experience with a scrapyard anywhere within driving distance to Phoenix that will let someone come by and pick up a flat sided chunk of steel for an anvil? I haven't had any luck finding one that will do business with regular folks. The one's I've talked with were all interested in selling in bulk to businesses, but not single pieces to individuals. macbruce
I can't help you but I'll say this.....Sadly this problem is here to stay, I've got two mom and pop places here I can go to now whereas 20 years ago there were 6-7.....The big scrappers were cool with folks rooting around for useables within reason but some got hurt and sued so they won't risk the liability now for a few bucks...... :(
Francis Trez Cole
just find your local metal supplier and ask about drops you can probably find what you need. Its not scrap but you will pay less than prime metal. here some of the you pull car parts place have scrap as well
Old N Rusty
Find a forklift seller ,repair shop. You might find they will give you a piece of forklift tine. Great anvil material.

HWHII
zold, You might want to try Davis Salvage on Washighton near 32nd street. Also Freeway Metals 19th ave at Buckeye. Hopes this helps.
zold
Thanks for the replies. That gives me a few options to look into next week, with the hopes of keeping things within budget. :)
