zionsmith139
Hello, My name is Tom and I go by Zion Smith! My shop "Pangborn Forge And Sundries" is located in Rockingham, NC. The address of the shop is at 139 Zion Church Road. This is known as the Zion Community. I have been working my Smithy since 2003. I recently retired and get to spend a whole lot more time at the fire. The first question I have is about rust or Browning as they use to call it back in the day. I use a lot of 1018 CRS for my projects. After I have forged an item and welded it, I have to use a wire brush (automatic) to get the rust off before I can polish it up. I have no AC in the shop and it was planned that way. Primitive blacksmith and all. I was wondering if there is a chemical mixture that is not too toxic that I could use (soaking or rubbing) to get most of the rust off before I polish?
