Blower questions

After last weekend's demo, I have concluded that I need a new blower. The small buffalo that is attached to my littler rivet forge is way to loud. I've taken it apart to clean /oil /grease, and the angle cut gears still make a lot of noise. Along with the fan blades themselves. Is there a way to quiet this thing down? Run some grinding paste on the gears for a few hundred turns? OR should I just junk it and look for something different? Also can a blower be too big? This is just a small rivet forge after all...

Don't use the grinding paste. That is only suitable for a brand new gear set for removing burrs, and that is subject to debate because it is not necessary for a good machining job.

Try chainsaw bar oil. it is sticky. You can also reduce it with some ATF if it is too heavy. Is the bushing on the shaft end still in fair shape, or is it wobbled out (loose and oval)?

Are the fan blades bent and contacting? are the blades complete, or have the edges been damaged? any holes? These fans are not the quietest, but they are not loud. Check the bushing here too.
