Astro_Al
Oh dear! Is it fixable? Can't you just run it through a 'commando' plug? Or do you need the 3 phase sockets putting up? Al.
Dan P.
It is fixable in some ways. It can be welded or preferably replaced. It may speak of my knowledge of electrics that I don't know what a commando plug is. The wiring in question is 3 phase direct into the wall, not something I am willing to tango with. Astro_Al
Fair enough. Commando is another name for ceeform or cee form plug. If you're having it wired in and it's 3 phase, you might want to consider having the electrician put a socket on the wall and a plug on the machine, then you can use the supply for other toys? Good luck, Al
nonjic
The little Massey Springer was born in 1947 - Notes from the machine construction file state it is a special 'low speed' hammer at 250 bpm, and it was finished to 'exhibition standard' & had special wide dies, and a steel 'loose top' on the anvil. Astro_Al
Ah, thanks John, that's interesting. If this is a low speed one, I'm definitely glad I didn't get a regular one! What is the purpose of the 'loose top' - so you can remove the top section of the anvil for more tooling height? Exhibition standard?! I think it needs a rebuild! Mind you after 65 years I probably will too. Thanks for the email, I will give you a bell next week to sort the clearspace info etc. Cheers, Al.
