nonjic
They are nice machines, I used to do a little work in a place that had half a dozen of them upto about 5 ton doing aerospace and defense work. Thing is, I really cant see what use they would be to a blacksmith!

Francis Trez Cole
John have to think out of the box. it can be re tooled and there is nothing that says that the top plate has to be used. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hwRQUrqFPQA Better than seeing it go to the scrap yard
nonjic
Shame for it to go to the scrappers, but thinking out of the box wont help a lot with configuring that hammer to blacksmithing duty! If you tried closed die, hot metal stamping with it you would break the rod in very short order, the guides are just to far apart, the ceco stamps like the one you linked to ive worked on have all been single acting so very little power. It would be a nice toy to have, but I would have to have nearly every other toy on the planet before I gave shop space to one of those, unless I got into sheet metal work..... hmmmm, it would be good for armour with some expensive tooling :)
