Olivier Q
I recently bought this monster for $350, I don't really see any markings anywhere on the anvil. I was hoping you guys might be able to tell me more about this anvil and whether or not this was a good buy.
CurlyGeorge
At $1.50 per pound, you didn't get hurt. A little cleanup on the face and wire wheel the body and legs and you have a very useable anvil. Work around the chips. If you wire wheel the waist and feet, you might even find some markings. Good haul. :)

Marksnagel
Glad to hear you got your first anvil. Like George said, a little cleaning may reveal some identifying marks. Enjoy it, it should do you well. Mark<><
clinton
I would say its probably a Mousehole anvil, that would be my first guess. It has the features that I relate to Mousehole- it leans forward slightly, the underside of the horn is abrupt not rounded off. Take a wire wheel to the side and see i you can find any markings. I think you did good that is a lot of anvil for the money
Olivier Q
Thanks for the replies, I took your guys' advice and cleaned it up a bit with a wire wheel and then oiled it with some WD-40. Unfortunately I was unable to find any markings or indications as to who made it or when it was made, although I discovered that once in it's lifetime it had been painted red.
