divermike
A pal at church kicked me down some drops from his shop, some 4" lenghts of 5/8ths square stock. I doodled a bit and came up with an idea, and recently I bought a tub of scraps of exotic woods, so when I made the coat /hat rack, I put it on a nice piece, I think it's cocobolo, but as it was not labelled, I just know it looks good. The metal part was about 2.5 hours, with another 30 minutes for wood, and mount. Fun project. Probably gonna donate it to a christmas fundraiser we go to every year, but not before I take it around and show it off, yeah it's not perfect, but for a hobbyist, it sure made me happy to see it finished. It gave me some practice at tenon work, and I sure need it, but all in all, a great way to spend a saturday morning.
Ferrous Beuler
Looks good Mike, nice job but are you sure you can part with it ? Mount it by your front door for a week and I'll bet you can't!
divermike
That's always the problem with these kind of projects, but mrs. nelson always gets first dibs anyway!! Good to see you here Dan. You missed a heckova hammer in, as long as I host the meetings, you are always welcome.
CurlyGeorge
Nice looking coat/hat rack Mike. Man, those are some BIG pics, though. You did a real nice job on the wood too. Thanks for sharing. :D
divermike
Curly George, hit the control and minus button at the same time, it will shrink the pic each time you do it! make it a bit more manageable, since the new format, this has been happening, don't know why, but this forum still is the best!! CurlyGeorge
I already did that, Mike. It takes my old computer a little longer to shrink it, but I was able to see them OK. Thanks for the tip though, and I agree that IFI is still the best blacksmithing site that I have found, too. :D
