Champion Lancaster #40 Forge Blower Restoration

Have a champion no.40 blower that I have disassembled completely except for the large gear with the smaller gear next to it. I have the shaft moving thru the large gear but can't get the small gear to move. If I hadn't already screwed it up by beating on the ends of the shaft I wouldn't take it apart but it's to late for that I have to get the shaft out to clean the ends up so it will spin freely. Anyone with one of these blowers that has disassembled it that can give me a suggestion on how to get the small gear to move I would appreciate it. I have one bushing out on the small gear side and the other bushing has moved about 3/16 of an inch . The  large gear moves back and forth on the shaft but can't get that darn little one to budge.
