philip in china Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 I am not really a knife maker although I do, sometimes, make a blade. Recently a customer asked me for my touchmark in his blade. I don't normally do that but have no objection. The only problem is he waited until the blade was finished before he asked. I am not going to reheat, mark and then temper etc. etc. Does anybody have any ideas? I had thought about putting wax on the blade, warming the touchmark and melting it into the wax then etching the mark onto the steel using phosphoric acid. I can't just whack it into the hilt material as that is a leather wrap. The touchmark is from blackbird tools. It seems quite a good one. So I don't want to risk any damage to it. I got it from www.incandescent-iron.com Quote
