Hey everyone, first I would like to start off and say that I'm a total newbie at forging. I've had an interest for quite some time now but due to were I was living "apartments" and the amount of free time I had, I was unable to ever get into the swing of things. Well now every-things changed, I'm living out in the country and I've got an acer of land to do with what ever I want. I've just started gathering materials to build a break drum forge and I'm still looking to find an anvil. Well thats about everything, I hope to learn a lot and in time I may even be able to forge something. I live around the Talladega area in east Alabama if anyone knows where I may be able to obtain some tools on a budget and or find an anvil "or something I could use for an anvil" please let me know.

Hello and welcome to the group I my self have not been member long. I made my own anvil to start with. Need to make some tongs. Pliers and vise grips just don;t cut it.

Welcome aboard Clint, glad to have you.

Join the alabama Forge Council and attend some meetings, get to know the guys, they'll be able to help you getting your kit together AND give you some hands on help.

If you'll click "User CP" at the top of the page and edit your profile to show your location it can make a big difference. IFI is represented by members in more than 50 countries and a lot of info is location specific. If the local folk know you're around they can invite you to gatherings, tip you to tool deals and offer hands on help.
