Jaymo
I have a customer who has a Hay Budden anvil. Serial number A25531. I seem to recall it has 208 stamped below the name, on the side of the anvil. Can anyone tell a newbie what the weight and year of mfg are for this one? Thanks in advance.
Sask Mark
It was probably made in 1896. Hay Buddens were stamped with the actual weight in pounds, so it probably weighs in the 208 pound range.
Thomas Dean
According to AIA it was made in 1920 and the weight is 208. HB, as most of the American made anvils, stamped the weight on the anvil. HB Added the "A" in from to their serial numbers starting in 1918. Dragons lair
1920 should be tool steel from the waist up. Would have 3digit number stamped on heel other side from logo. Ken
