May 12, 200917 yr I just wanted to pass this along as this seemed to improve performance- I installed an air cleaner on my 50kg Say Mak power hammer that is designed for air compressors. I purchased it from McMaster Carr and cost a little over $30.00. The air cleaner has a silencer and the description in their catalog stated that the air flow would be improved. I must say that the hammer does seem a little more responsive and the exhaust note is very healthy (more than before the change). I don
May 12, 200917 yr It is also good practice I imagine, what with all the dust and abrasive type things floating around in the air in a blacksmith shop.
May 12, 200917 yr You installed this on the intake correct My hammer just has a roundish can with no filter on the intake and exhaust. I piped the exhaust outside. It should probably have a filter intake but Tom Clark did not say anything about it I think
May 12, 200917 yr Author Yes, I put this on the air intake. I have both the intake and exhaust outside. I had a muffler (that came with it) for the air intake before. There are specific mufflers for air compressors that I may try. They run around $8 - $10.
