Jamesrjohnson
I received an email where someone has an Anyang 88 lb pneumatic hammer and wants to make machete's or long knives and wanted to know what type of dies to use. Any advise is appreciated. Thanks, James
Sam Salvati
Flat dies would be the best bet, with relieved corners I would think. What size stock are they working from?
Jamesrjohnson
I did not get any information on size... very short email. I would have to agree that flat or mild rounded dies that was relieved more on one side (looking at the die on the long side) would probably be the best. We are at the Bam conference... met a lot of people and this looks like it is going to be a great conference, in spite of the weather. Just traveled here from the CBA conference. That too was a great conference and met a lot of great people. Eventful drive from Calif to Missouri... spring broke on the trailer on top of Donner Pass, then in Missouri, one fuel tank where we filled up had gas instead of Diesel in it. No dammage done, but it was a learning to "smell the Diesel before you pump. (Yes, I read the label right before I pumped... Station error). Guess what does not kill you will make you stronger. Sam Salvati
Good to hear James! It's all about the journey, unless it sucks then you just want to get there . Hope things go well at BAM!
nonjic
If they want to forge the bevels in they just need to dress one edge of a flat die to the angle that they require. Of course it will swoop like a bannana so they will have to pre-curve the blank the opposite way
