Doug C
These look really nice. Made my first wrapped hinged last weekend. Looking at that pintle I know what I'll be doing this weekend. Did you wrap the pin and weld or punch a hole, insert the ping and weld?
Don A
Doug C., Like this (from the other thread): It was suggested to me to use 1/4" x 1/2" instead of 1/2"square. This would eliminate the drawing out in the first step. That's what I will be doing next time. Hopefully I will be delivering the other 22 sets of hinges & pintles tomorrow, and hopefully that's the last pintles I will forge for a while. rokshasa
what are the mesurments and how big is the door, if you dont mind me asking?
Don A
I have not seen the actual door yet, but it is a double door made from 2" rough lumber. I'll get some pics when they get them hung. The hinges themselves are from 2" x 1/4" stock and are around 14.5" long (cut 16" before rolling the barrel). The pintles are from 1/2" square with 1/2" round up-rights or axles, or whatever you'd call them. The spike is drawn to around 4.5". The hasp is from 2" x 1/4" as well.
