  1. Mine is just a basic V shaped forge. Half inch pipe with holes running through the base of the V of friebricks...
  2. So I have a corn forge at this time. First time starting is slow, but every one after the first gets easier. It seems the heat and consumption rate vary dependent on forge design... My first design chewed through corn like mad, was hard to keep up with. The second design I used half the corn I did with the first design but got more burn time out of less fuel. I'll be honest I am new to forging this year so these are just short term observations by an obvious rookie....
  3. I use a bit of corn in my forge mixed with homemade charcoal. Most of the heat is found in the bottom, but corn has the added advantage of being an insulator. So if I want to warm something quick I will dump some corn right on top of it. It can burn quick but there are designs of the forge that can help with that...
