I made a trowel for a friend of mine sister.. she is graduating college with an archeological degree.. the handle got away from me a bit.. but he liked it so I guess its ok..

First off thank you.. secondly incandescent doesn't sell the anvils any longer.. Morgan-Jade ironworks now is the sole world distributor of the rhino anvil.. however it still has incandescent's logo cast into it.. he did tell me it should work it's self out.. I really appreciate you talking with the metalurgist..thank you

Well I've wanted this anvil for quite some time now and it came to me in Tennessee from Washington State.. I think I'll hold on to it.. it's a beautiful anvil and I mounted it last night and did some forging on it.. it's really not as bad as it first seemed it would be to keep the forge scale off the striking surface..

Well it won't take the hammer from my hand but i definitely feel the pull.. the magnetism is tge strongest just forward of the hardie hole..the guass meter will max out both ways neg and positive going from side to side.. From one face edge across the face to the other I mean.

Well I fully intend to put it thru it's paces for the next few days.. hopefully it will release the magnetism.. it's a beautiful anvil..242 pound papa rhino.

The milling is what he thinks it's from and I don't know if he has spoken with the foundry about this or not.. either way and maybe both it's a big magnet right now..

I just talked to my anvil supplier and he told me it's from the milling process and that it will loose magnetism the more I use it..he says it shouldn't take long.. I think I'll try the welder technique.

I just tried a degaussing tool we use to demagnetize landing gear after lightning strikes and it didn't work..its a 242 pounder..

I just bought a new anvil and it is magnetized as well.. I guess I'll try the trouble light technique tonight..

I was trying to look into getting a tire style hammer from fiery furnace .. does anyone have any experience with these hammers? If so how do they perform?
