like dragon said something laying on the face will work i used a homemade anvil in class that had one heck of a ring and i would put a c clamp on the end of the hill works great

i use ferric chloride it makes a good etch its computer board etchant. i have also used straight battery acid from auto parts store

you may have to anneal it then drill your holes and re-heat treat ive done that before and thats what i had to do

i didnt know that wood dust was so bad for you i figured just dont breath to mush dust and you would be ok. along these same lines at work we changed our mulch providers and have been spreading red oak mulch and its dry and dusty one of my co workers got a migrane so bad he didnt come in the next day

LDW the pcb etchant is ferric chloride and i did the same thing you did and forgot a cable knife in the acid was gonna leave it in for for 5-10 minutes and remembered about 40 minutes later beautiful etch and it was with pcb etchant diluted 50% with water

the ferric chloride gives more difference to me i have etched a cable knife in both and the ferric looks the best

i started off using battery acid straight from auto store then finally our radio shack got ferric chloride much better when used 1:1 with water

nice looking dagger i have always like the wavy blades. i bet it was a pain to temper

that is a b-e-a-utiful knife and the sheath compliments it excellent i would carry it as an everyday knife just for conversation but also function.
