Thorn on rose stem
Cool idea. I'll pass it along to Howard when I see him.

How'd you do that goat? And was it deliberate?

Iron Roses, by Howard
Hey All, Howardz, my forging partner, wanted me to post these because his internet is busted. He's been making Russian Roses for valentine's day and came by with the (almost) finished bouquet yesterday. They still need sand blasting and finishing.

I made this candle holder last night. The basic idea came from Trenton over at purgatoryironworks. YouTube - candleholder

Stories behind smithy/forge names...
We call ours the Flint Forge. My smithing partner's name is Flint and I liked the mental contrast of the name.

My version of the "Russian rose"
I've done a couple of these with varying degrees of success. I let my best one get away from me. (Pretty women can talk me out of anything) But I will also try to post a picture of what I have. With a pice of sheet and some bailing wire you can actually finish these out vary nicely.

home made charcaol manking is scary
As the other half of this comedy duo, I just want to say that this was an entertaining experiment, but after talking to Trenton over at Purgatory we're probably going to go back to making our charcoal using the direct method. Primarily because then we have two usable barrels per burn without that nerve racking engine roar. I can't say we've abandoned distillation completely though so bee on the look out for more hijinks later.
