That means I have 24 lb more so it should be worth some more?

My recently found 208 pound Peter Wright.

Bought on ebay of all places.

Comes with a story. The seller lives in a very affluent suburb in a multi million dollar house, and does not seem to be a blacksmith. Checked the anvil out and asked him how he came by the anvil. The guy tells me that when he was 18 (he is now about 60) a friend of the family a very old person, came to him asking him to "get rid of this anvil for me".

He put it in the family home garage, and covered it with a tarp and it layed there for 40 years.

I didn't ask anything further. The price was right (for Australia that is) and the anvil is almost perfect but for a small chip.

Just had to toot my own horn. Been using long pliers for tonges so I got some round bar 3/8. (I think I should have gone bigger) and...

I just made my first set of tonges. They are sloppy and the rivet s lopsided but they hold a piece of steel and feel good in my hand, so this is a win for me.

Thank you to everyone who has given advice on how to get started. More help than you can imagine.

And thank you everyone who has answered all the newbie questions. Lots of great reading. I have learned so much I now realize how much more there is to learn.
