  1. Was just wondering with some of the wrinkle finish powder coating available could I powder coat my blade and then put it in the oven at four hundred degrees to tempure the blade? Does the blade need to be quenched or can it just cool down along with the powder coating. I wonder if quenching the blade would screw up the powder coat. Busse's knives looks like it has that wrinkle finish.
  2. OK, Thanks Ive read the steps but I got confused, I should have wrote it down before I started. I guess that some of the learning phase. The good thing is I have more leaf spring material. Thanks to all!!
  3. Well that explains why it's so hard, do I have to start over again or can this blank be softened?
  4. Hello, I am trying to anneal a leaf spring to make a knife, I heated the metal to non-magnetic and quenched it in used motor oil and let it cool. I tried to drill a hole in the blank but it is too hard, the bit wouldn't even dent it. I thought this process would soften the metal so it could be worked. What did I do wrong? Thanks
