  1. Thank you for the words of caution. I'm glad you said something I figured I could just unbolt it so you probably saved me some kind of injury :D I just need to dedicate a spot to make one but it is on the list for sure. Probably will just use two by fours and half inch black pipe seeing as I have an unlimited Supply laying around. That brings up another question for me comma does anyone have any good ideas for forging things from black pipe. I have an always replenishing supply of 1/2" black pipe and fittings because I do hvac work for my day job

  2. Went to the scrap yard this weekend and found some good steel to heat and mangle. Who knows if I'm lucky I might make something worth keeping. Dropped 20 dollars and got two good size coil springs and a nice set of 3/8 leaf springs longest being 4 ft. Also got lots of random stock along with a couple of pieces of tool steel. All in all I would say it was a good day at the country junkyard

So this small (350 lbs/160kg) clamping cube followed me home. The challange was only the "how to get it out of the trunk alone?". It's good to have a big pile of rusty junk around, isn't it? (Wasn't talk about the 114lbs travel anvil, though. ;) )

Absolutely love the creative thinking. Put a big smile on my face

  4. Here are my two anvils first one is a 95? Lb Peter Wright 1852-1860 I think. The man who gave it to me said that his grandad brought it with him when the immigrated for England. The second is a nice rr anvil that someone put some serious time into I think. Need to put it on a better stand

  5. i have one i set it on right after i took the picture. my old truck (plow truck) isn't anything that can have much more damage done to it and notice, so i tend to get careless at times but its perfect for me. covered in dirt and grease and dented up but still a runner. the back was too full to put it in because the rest of my blacksmithing gear is in it

  6. These happened to find their way into the back of my truck today. All for under 45 bucks. 8# straight peen 8# sledge two 3# hammers 17 rr spikes fire extinguisher (hopefully it is steel so I can make it into a crucible) a punch some round stock and the army duffle bag and 3 axe heads

  7. It is a Peter Wright solid wrought 105 markings 0 3 19. Anyone have a clue as to how old it may be? Thank you very much Stan you were right about where the markings were and Thomas Powers I used your method to find it. It's my 2nd anvil in two weeks and I've spent only $10. My first one is a rr anvil I got at a garage sale. I'm very excited about it. I spent 6 hours forging today on it. Can't wait to wake up and get after it again

  8. I got this anvil for helping some one move some stuff. He told me that it was his grandfather's and that he wasn't sure but he may have brought it over from England. My guess is PW but I'm new to blacksmithing and this is my first real anvil. Was heavily rusted and had multiple coats of paint. The only marking I have found is a P stamped on the front of it. Haven't weighed it but it has to be an easy 75. Please help me I'd this old workhorse
