    I've tried sanding but thwre are s9me paets that still are really staibed and I don't want to remove much more material from the blade. And thanks for the vegetable oil advice, I'll be sure to consider it next time

    Hey there I've been making some knives and I just heat treated and tempered them a few days ago, but I made a terrible mistake and used burnt motor oil, heavily staining my blades with oil. Has it ever happened to anyone before? And if so, is there a way to remove them without damaging my blades. I'm open to all suggestions and appreciate any advice given. Thanks
