  1. Been interested in blacksmithing for a while since I knew we had an old anvil somewhere(other than the abused one I bought at a scrapyard and posted pics of). I had thought dad moved the anvil to his shed, but he told me today that it was still out in the shop. So I went out and did a little digging. Dad also told me that there are some hardy tools, tongs and hammers somewhere around the place too.
  2. Putting a little dish soap in quench water will help it work a little better. I can't remember exactly what the addition of soap changes, but the water won't boil away from the steel quite as much.
  3. There are enough 9" Southbends out there that you shouldn't have a bit of trouble finding anything you need for yours. When I bought my 1952 Heavy 10 a few years ago, I ordered a few replacement parts from the factory. As I understand it, Grizzly tools bought them out and is now handling the parts business.
  4. New to the forum and picked this up a while back at scrap price.
