    Comments: While it's true that the major wireless phone providers (Verizon excepted) have announced their intention to establish a 411 directory of customers' cell phone numbers in the near future, it is not true that they plan to "publish" said directory for any and all to read. Participating companies say the numbers will be made available only with customer consent, and only via telephone to users who dial directory assistance and pay a fee.

    The companies also insist the numbers will never be accessible to telemarketers. In fact, per FCC regulations, telemarketers are already prohibited from calling cell phone numbers using automated dialers, which are standard in the industry.

    Canman, IForgeIron has over 400 Blueprints how-to tutorials on making tools, jigs, and some projects. There are some 1,800 photos in the IForgeIron Gallery that cover many areas of blacksmithing, tools, jigs, projects, tools, etc.

    Bill Epps have 4 how-to blacksmithing books for sale in the IForgeIron Store. Each book have several projects with detailed instructions on how to make that project. These projects were chosen because they sold well for Bill at his shows.

    A Directory Website

    IForgeIron has such a directory started. IFI also has a links directory, IForgeIron.com > links that is being updated on a regular basis.

    The links directory is one of the last sections of the site to be worked on as it was decided that once the contents of the site were posted, the links would follow. No use telling someone about great things going to happen, show them what they are linking to with the IForgeIron link.

    If you have list of quality blacksmithing related websites, please send the list to Glenn so we can contact them for an exchange of links.

    # 0016 Get to know your anvil. Measure the face from heel to front edge. Then to edge of cutting table ( these are length measures ). Also, from working side to near edge of hardie hole, far edge, and to both sides of prichel Numerical measurement not as important as finished goods ( IE how far to draw the end of a piece for a loop ). 4 choices ( both sides of both holes ) gives you much leeway. Then you can repeat as necessary. Easier for me to write down in the book that I need to draw to far side of prichel than to a measurement on a ruler. sog

    Go to the opening page of I Forge Iron.com > Blacksmith locations > Tenn and find a pin stuck in the Tenn map in Anderson County at Museum of Appilachia Blacksmith Shop - Norris, TN. (Jason Herrera is a member of I Forge Iron.) That is some approximately 27 minutes or 20.98 miles up Interstate 75 from your location. Aristotle, that is about as close as I can get to your location from here.

    Everyone is encouraged to put a pin in the blacksmithing locations map, and it doesn't have to be in your yard, but in your general area.

    I've gone through quite a bit of blueprints, but find the index difficult to go through.

    The Blueprint index (from the yellow bar on the opening page of IForgeIron.com) was intentionally set up in numerical order, with thumbnail images, the BP numbers, and BP title. People remember images. They are much more likely to become interested in a project if they see an image, than if they just see yet another number.

    The BP#'s were created as easy reference to a specific Blueprint. "BP" in front of a number separates that number from any other number you will see on the site, and you know it relates to a Blueprint.

    Seems like a forum that was not writable by anyone except the admin and had a blueprint in each thread would allow for that.

    The Blueprints were set up just that way at one point.

    What about moving the blueprints to a seperate forum, where they could be searched with the vbulletin search engine?

    Have you used the "search the site" from the menu on the opening page. This is the search engine for all the blueprints, and all the posted articles that are not in the forum or the gallery. You can search by BP#, key words, etc.

    Each Blueprint is presented in such a fashoin that it can not be changed, but at the bottom of each blueprint is a place to make comments. This creates an addendum that is attached below the text of that specific blueprint. It is a very powerful tool as it allows follow-up comments and suggestions to improve the material.

    Currently there are some 325 Blueprints on file plus another 10 or 15 Blueprints by Hofi. If you read one per day it will take you almost a year to work your way through that section of the I Forge Iron site. I Forge Iron presents 2 (or more) blueprints every week so at the end of the year, you will be about 4 months behind in your reading. At the end of the 4 months you will be about 32 Blueprints behind and at the end of those blueprints you will still be a couple of weeks behind. Because more than two Blueprints are presented each week, there are no exact numbers, but this is close. The point is that if you started today, reading one Blueprint a day, at the end of a year and a half, you would still not be caught up. That is truely a blacksmithing resource !! The credit for the resource goes to those that have contributed the material. You see their names at the top of each Blueprint. Thank them for their time, effort, and knowledge when you use the Blueprint material.
