  1. fellows when i get back from holidays in mid january i will make it happen merry chrismas everyone
  2. If I had time off I would improve my workshop with better jigs. You know that thing you always want to make or improve but never have the time well.
  3. I Forge Iron has helped me out heaps. I Don't live on the computer and finding time to do things other than work is hard, so when i do jump on Iforge, it feels like I am taking and not giving. Sometimes, i just go on the archives problem solving. I have nearly built an air hammer from some David guy's plan from, i think, Artist Blacksmith.com. I downloaded the youtube film of Coleman's plumbing walkthrough of his version of the Ron Kinyon hammer and how he did his plumbing set up. I then took my laptop and showed my local pneumatics guy. He came up with a set up that seems pretty cool, with different functions using pnuematics instead of mechanical stuff. I filmed him explaining how to put together this system. While we were doing it, we realise we were missing a part and we are both going on holidays tomorrow, so were are not going to finish this hammer until i get back in mid january. I was going to do a walk through of it going on film with him explaining once again his set up of the plumbing. To me, i think its valuable information and i would like to share it with IForge if you think its worth while. I dont know how to do it, that is, giving it to IForge. Where would i put it and do you want it? from Michael T , Australia Taking my laptop on holidays, waiting for some response :)
  4. I don't know where I put my details in, thats if you mean that i put my location in Iforge i can't do animal heads yet but i have been looking for some door knockers on the internet. would of like to have seen a pic of the doorknocker that you made.
  5. Hello fellows. My wife the other day did a quote on a security door for ornamental work with simple scrolls and such, we got the job, which was great:). Problem is that she put her foot in it and said that I could put a door knocker on the security screen. I have never made a door knocker in my life. Funny thing is, is that my customers don't know that I have only been playing with blacksmithing for only a year now, did some advertising and getting plenty of work. They don't know that I am a amerture and I am making it up as I go. So does anyone have any cool ideas on a easy doorknocker. I would appreciateit alot.
  6. I am really keen on one of the sights that you showed me. There was heaps of dvds on different subjets. I am in the process of trying to get about 20 of them. Having a little difficuties with the process, tryin to get a responce from an actual person. Got my wife onto it. if all goes well i will be a happy chappy. thanks
  7. thanks heaps fellows, i really mean it sometimes it is easier to get the ball running here first before diving in. I'd like to think that I could have a go and learn from trial and error with the research. Personally I would also like to forge everything but in a working world sometimes we have to stamp a few things aswell. If I can't get the dies right I will just have to throw money at it . Money I don't have but sometimes you just got to bite the bullet. I am going to see if I can fin some of the hot die forging videos on the web. thanks fellows.
  8. orgtwister Does the dies have to be machined by a tool maker to do the imprint. Say i forged a spear exactly how i wanted it , then cooled that down then heated up to blocks of steel and then put my forged spear in between the two heated blocks then pressed or hammer them down, would that work? then harden then put in a rod then whammo out comes a spear. is it that simple? the reason being i like forging things and some of my customers just want things a bit cheaper to match this fellow called ironman who produces pressed leaves in our town. I would love to experiment on some dies and I am in the middle of making a ron kinyon air hammer then i was going to look at after christmas in making a press. i would like to press or hammer which ever way that they do it some nice patterns on pickets and spear tops and such. dablacksmith i'm not quite sure what you are trying to tell me. I hope good luck doesn't mean good bye, because i need a bit more information. are you saying that you know a fellow who made some dies and he made you some and you are going to get bask with me with his details or how he did it.
  9. hi guys i was wondering does anyone know where i can access the Clifton Ralp videos. I am from Ausrtalia. I am willing to buy them off anyone or any place. better still i would prefer them in dvd format because i don't even have a video player who has one of them
  10. hello everyone. I am interested in making dies for air hammers and mabey hydraullic press or something. looking at spear heads leaves and mabey a bit of stamping on bar for picketts. I think its on the line of forging what you like then inprinting it on 2 bits of heated block and making them form together on a spring. I have seen some really cool tennon jigs and some for balls but what about making cool spear heads for onamental work like gates and security screens and such. what are the advantages of doing things hydraulicly. So question is where do i get information like that on the web on how to make dies and what applications do you use to get them imprinted on dies. so come on fellows everyone has a suggestion. your help will be much appreciated. i already have a workshop and 3 phase power.
  11. hello everybody want to know if anyone knows whats wrong with the archives tried to get in the problem solving and i couldn't get in and does anyone know if the 500 blueprints are still coming or not
  12. Hello to everybody. firstly I am from Australia. My problem is, is that I made a security screen for a window and I am using another mans solution with the actual fly screen attaching. He is using some sheetmetal folded at 90 degrees then welded to the framimg of the security screen. It looks ugly because of the welds and i can weld. There must be some framing that I can use that has a slot in it so I can use it to bind the fly sreen too. Any ideas will be aprreciated.
  13. I just made my first scroll jig the other day and I made a double end scroll out of 14mm square bar and the whole scroll fits in the palm of my hand and it looks mad. I am so impress that I was going to take a photo of it and post it on here but I don't know how to post a photo on here or know where to put it. You's fellows probaly think that it is pretty lame but I thought it was swell. I carried it around in my pocket for 2 days untill the ecxcitement wore off. I built a coke forge and a gas forge and i am willing to share it with iforge if anyone is interested. Never know could be helpful to someone. so how do i put photos on here and where do i put things.
  14. thanks heaps peter and krush i got the email and had a look at the layout for the plumbing and i am definately looking forward to seeing those photos krush Thank You
  15. how are you going Medieval. You know i just looked at your sight and your hammer. you know that your hammer looks abit like ron kinyons hammer. Albana is selling the plans for $15. thats a big jump comparing to what your selling them for. I am certainly not disrespecting you.Well i am knew to this web site aswell and i find this site and the fellows on it to be very helpful. hope you enjoy
