  1. I bought this at a local auction today I believe it's called a Beak Horn Stake Anvil.  From what I have read this was made for sheet metal work.

Can I use this for general forging work. I was thinking of mounting it in a tree stump kind of like the one in the pictures only taller.

What do you guys think would be the best way to use this in a blacksmith shop ?.

    Thanks Steve,

  2. Hi Kubiack,

I believe this wet grinder was made in the 70's. It was sold by the Prairie Tool Company Inc. Prairie Du Chien , Wisconsin.

    It is a model G 7 with a 10" grinding wheel powered by a 1/3 hp motor.

  3. I have a question on forge maintenance.  My forge is about five months old and getting a really rusty looking color inside.

When should I think about doing something to the inside ?

Here are some pics showing what it looks like.

So what do you think needs to be done to this forge to keep it preforming efficiently.  All suggestions are appreciated.

  4. I came across this ad in our local newspaper:

    #9 FISHER ANVIL

    Patented 1877

    $200 Firm.

That's all the ad said no weight was listed. I will call them tomorrow and see if I can take a look at it.

Don't want to call today being Easter Sunday.

So my question is what does the number 9 mean. Does it tell us anything about the anvil as far as style or weight.

I did try to find info on the web but came up with nothing. Any info would be appreciated that way I can be somewhat informed

when I go to look at it . That's if it's not sold already.

    Thanks Steve,
