  1. hello Guys! I have the same hammer. Hercules is a 160lbs and I've change speed 160 to 200 hit per minutes, it work well better...... mine must be an older version...... you can find some pictures on metal artist forum..... best regards....

  3. Hello Glenn! I think it'sn't very difficult to make a similar hammer, I have see industrials hammers who has made like this.... most easy to make an hammer like the big blu with a second cylinder and a motor for produce air movements. bye.

  5. hello Peter ! you don't have a friend with a camera:D my Hercule hammer strike 160 per minuteswith a 10hp , I have change springs with two industiel rubbers..... arms has been welded, but too long, I'll make other later.... sometimes, at slow speed the hammer don't strike normally, now I think if the speed is more hight it could be better..... with this slow speed, I must adjust the excentric highter. bye..

  8. Hello Mr Hofi ! I 've find in old thread you use WD40 for finish handle, do you think it could be this oil who change the "grip" (a friend of me soak his knives handles in linen oil and it give them more "hand adhesion"...)? I hope I could return to your students school soon....
  9. hello guys! Can I ask a other question about this hammer on this thread? I have bought an Hofi cast hammer 2 years ago, but the handle doesn't want to stay in my hand..... I have stick a rubber tennis racket for avoid this, it very well..... but I have try same hammer in a school forge in France (Eynate and Shraga School) and their hammers don't slice in my hand.... aspect was different, seem like warnish or oiled... could you say more about this ? I don't think it's student sweet who have polish them... Thanks!
  10. Skunkriv, I have see the hofi's dvd and all this elements was made only with power-hammer, with special dies...... are this tools only for making surface effect???? :confused::confused::confused:
  11. hello ! for give you an idea of size tool, this stamp is near 1inch large...... no easy to use repousse tool under power-hammer.... if you find a picture work made with similar tool, I'm interested:rolleyes: bye!   12. Hello Guys ! There was an hammer-in last week-end in France, on a dealer table I could see this set of stamps ..... I know is for marking metal with hammer or power-hammer, but I have no idea of a finish object made with this tool, have you any examples???? thanks......

  14. hello Guys ! when I'm making damascus billets, I'm using cutting abrasives wheels ....... now I want too cut it under power-hammer but I have never see an hot cutter for power-hammer ! have you any picture to this tool and have you any ideas what steel is the better for making it? thanks for your help! (and excuse me for my poor english speaking!)

  17. hello ! sorry I have not precise it is an old english hammer, Hercules 160 lbs, Samuel Patt ltd........ I have try to found other information, but if we can found some detail Samuel Platt 's life, it is impossible to found something on this hammer..... (except some guys on british blades forum who have the same or the smaller size, Goliath 60lbs...) That's right, hole through the frame,I take a picture and I post it this afternoon...... before I tense springs (on each side) I haven't very different blow at hight or slow speed, this hammer strike metal with hammer weight. now at slow speed, hammer is retain and more controlable...... I hope my posts are not too difficult to read, my english speaking ....:(

  19. thanks Jim, i'll buy this video with the other one......... I have try compress the two springs and I have a better control at slow speed......... but no-one have experience with this ? :confused:

I have a answer for you, I have an old power-hammer but I don't know if I must compress the springs. the two arms who maintain hammer are not horizontal, hammer is heavy (150lbs!), but when I watch several power hammer pictures on google, many of them have horizontal arm.........http://www.eptingknives.com/Photos/PowerHammer.jpg but sometimes I see other like this:http://home.comcast.net/~paabasec/CoopPH1.jpg What's the best ???
