Chris I had the idea that what may work for you is to punch a wide slot where the mounting holes of your hinges are and then make up inserts to fit with different hole positions. A fancy washer or top plate could hold it in.

Guess i been lurking here too long as I've been nabbed. lot better with my hands than my mouth is my excuse as having been a mechanic,fabricator, blacksmith most of my working life. Got bitten by the bug in 1986. Nearing retirement age so have to watch what i say as i might not remember saying it later on. Or sorry that i said it. Interesting how people in different countries approach problems differently. Nice to have the mix. I'm a canuck (Canadian) in the Pacific Northwest.
