There are a couple groups about 45 minutes either side of me. 

Maybe I should see if I can find a local support group?!!

I’ll have to remember that. I’m about 15 miles or so from Michigan in roughly the center of the state. 

Yeah I used Aqua Fortis for the first time it’s amazing stuff. I’ll keep that in mind about grinding the bevels higher. I wasn’t sure how high to go. Thanks

Thanks guys. Some of my grind lines and fitting could use a lot of improvement.

Actually this only probably my third or fourth knife shaped object to date. I don’t consider myself a knife maker at all I just decided to give it a try.  It’s 136 layers of 15n20 and 1084 with a brass pins and a curly maple handle. The guard is a different pattern from a scrap piece left over from another project. There’re a lot of things that could be better but I’m happy with it at this point.

I’ve seen that I may have to get some and give it a try.

I’m getting ready to try and make a ribbon burner. I have some Kast O Lite but have read maybe that isn’t the best for this. I also have some greencast would that work for a burner? Thanks Zachary 

Hey guys I'm getting ready to try a ribbon burner and I have some Kast o lite 30 and some Greencast 94. I read that Kast o lite 30 isn't ideal for a burner but I can't find anything about the greencast. Would it be suitable or should I get something else? Thanks Zachary

I’m not brushed up on my terminology but this was folded in half and welded. Then I used a slightly different pattern and welded a bit in the end yet so the weld wouldn’t be running down the middle of the cutting edge 

I like the lower layer counts personally as well. I have some curly maple handles as well as an osage orange handle coming I’ll have to see which I like best.

I made a couple billets of Damascus to see if I could do it so then I had to make something with it! It’s wrapped and welded with a bit of a little different pattern welded in so the weld isn’t running down the cutting edge

Binesman that's exactly what the flux I'm using does I think it's called ez weld anti borax I got from blacksmiths depot. Have you found something you like that doesn't eat the floor?

Thanks for all the info. I should find that flux the stuff I’m using is eating my floor but I can’t remember the name of it at the moment. Thanks again guys.

I didn't even think of that thanks! Do I need to do anything special to get them to bond? Can I just cast a layer over my current floor to repair it or should I pour a new one and coat the top when it's damp? Thanks again. Zachary
