I tried to cut a few with a brick hammer and it didn't go to well.You can get a good cut if your just trying to make a half brick, but I don't know about doing it the length of the brick.
Check your blade and see if it's a dry blade.If it is ,you should have everything you need.Dad has one of those blades and it works good,and yes you need a mask because they make alot of dust.

.It could have been the metal to .I have no Idea what it was,from looking at it I would say it is as bad as rebar if not worse,I used it because it was at hand and I'v never tried to do a weld so I'm not to hurt that it didn't work .So I'm going to try some better stuff this time.

Well I finally got to try real coal in my new forge.Wow it sure gets hotter than my rivet forge ever did :cool: Also burnt my first piece of metal with it,I threw a 1/2" rod in the fire to make a quick fire poker for the forge and burnt the end right off before I knew what happend.
I need to find out what I did wrong with my weld I tried to do,it didn't really stick together good because I was able to pull it apart.I guess I might have burnt it to,because the fist time I pulled it out it was sparking alittle,but I'll figure it out. But over all it went good,sorry I didn't get any pictures.:D

That picture is from Yesteryearforge in the gallery(I only used it so everyone would know what I'm talking about).The one I'm looking at is made the same only rusty and needs alittle work to get it back to working.

Thank's ,I guess they are worth alittle more than I thought.I think I'll get it when I go back.At least it's not a pile of junk like all the ones I see around here.

Over the weekend I found a old pedal grinder like this one
This one is rusty but complete ,the wheel is out of round or it needs to be balanced,but he is asking 75.00 for it.Sounded a little to much to me for the work i'll have to put in it to make it useable again,but what are they really worth?

So the $100 he's asking is close to what the true value of it is.I'm going to be near where it is this weekend,so I'll probably go ahead and look at it.At least now I know a little about what I'll be looking at.

Thank's thats what I need to know.Any marks that I can look for that would confirm that it is a Vulcan?

I'm looking at this anvil and waiting for the guy to reply with more info,any idea what type it it is? And what it might be worth?

I have a cast fire pot in my forge,should I line it or will it be ok without it?

Looks the same as mine,I'm at the point of cutting out the hole for the firepot too.
I'm putting fire brick in mine and trying to think what way to set the firepot,flush to the top of the brick or sitting on the brick.

Been around for a few days now but I couldn't see many of the pictures without loging in,so just had to join .I haven't had much time with the forge because all I had was a little rivet forge and it took a long time to heat anything but also because I don't have a barn to keep it setup in so every time I want to do anything ,I need to pull EVERYTHING out, set it up in the yard and then put it all away before it rains.But last year the pan cracked so now I need to do something,like set up my 400 blower.Right now I'm working on building my forge out of metal and firebrick for a liner,so hope to have it fired up soon.And then maybe I can build some place to keep it.:cool:
