  1. unfortuanatly no pictures my camera was injured. its a Vulcan 75lbs and in new condition, no idea how old it actually is and id like to think its worth saving. the face doesnt look like it was welded all the way through when it was made, rather it seems to have been brazed just around the outside

  2. ive got a tiny problem with my anvil. the face has come halfway off the body. what happened was i was making a stage prop for my churches play and it was larger than i usually work with so i got my dad to strike for me with an 8lbs sledge and about 5 heats in the weld broke all the way through. Ive welded it a couple of times around the side but it never holds for long. any ideas on how to permanently fix this?

    thanks,
    Geof

tis hard coal, smokes alot unless air is constantly flowing therefore it burns real fast but its xxxx cheap....from utah i think they said
they will only ship in the state and then u gotta get a big dump truck full so like 20 tons unless you bring your own truck

  5. a word of warning about clay. any type of clay used to seal or for any use in your forge for that matter must be left to dry for at least 5 days (+or- depending on size) before fireing...or it will explode from steam and send hot chunks of clay and charcoal flying everywere burnings stuff including but not limited to, your favorite shirt, plastic tarps, the fence, grass and screens on windows....as an aditional note hairjell burns fairly vigorously as well....so ya be careful

  6. k ive been runnin my forge on charcoal for a wile but i got my hands on a small amount of coal, and tried it out and i was having problems with clinker getting cloged in my tuyere, i got it out but not without greatly desturbing the fire, how do you guys get it out without breaking up the fire?

  7. well when you use coal you make your own coke in the process so not much sence in buying coke and im pretty sure coal is about as hot as it gets for solid fuel only downsides are the smoke at the start of the fire and when you add new coal and the clinker left over fromt he non organic parts of coal that dont burn, they can clog the airways and you have to poke em out, charcoal gets almost as hot as coal but ive not been able to get it to welding temp and its virtualy smokeless, and wood..well i dont think wood can get hoter than maby orange i wouldnt use it unless i was out of everything else.
