Hello I was just recently playing around we my new brake drum forge (homemade) and I suddenly saw blue fire coming from the middle what caused this?

I got a small brake drum from my uncle and I got to stands I am welding the stands to the drum today at my neighbours house ( he has been in black smithing his whole life and he is going to teach me some tricks( I got some pipe a a bug hair dryer for my bellows. -
Forges and fire was actually what started my passion for metalworking

One last question how do you light it? And I have found a website that sells coal and coke which one doi want to buy ( money doesn't matter)

So should I buy coal or coke and how do I make the coal into coke. (what should I do to make it) also which one burns hotter? Sorry for all the questions I just want to learn.

What I'd the difference between coal and coke? Are they the same thing? Is one better for your lungs?

I am making a knife with some old rebar and a tiny crack has appeared is there anything I can do to fix it? It is kind of hard to see in the photo.

I have been using a round fireplace with one side open and a chimney for a forge and a low power leaf blower for a forge. I need to give the fireplace back to my neighbor ( to whom I borrowed it from ) so I need an easy idea for a safe forge.
