  1. I meant to post a pic of my forge when people were asking about ceramic chip forges before. Ceramic forges are excellent for someone who has just a few hours a month to get hammering. I have 2, one that I'd say is about 40 years old based on the blower and this one that I bought from a school that was made in 1983. When I got it all I had to do was connect the gas and I was forging in 10 minutes.
  2. I have an older model the flamefast ds250, its perfect for someone who has a few hours per week to forge and doesnt have time for messing around with coal, turn it on, it heats up in about 15 minutes, when finished turn it off and home. They are expensive new, all kinds of safety stuff as the flamefast models are used in schools. I got mine for around 250euro from a school that was trading up to the latest model due to new safety requirements.
  3. These forges are very quiet and heat up quickly, I usually only have an hour or two a week to mess around so having a forge I can just switch on and off is great.
  4. Hi, Is anyone using one of these, I got an earlier version from a school (DS230 Chip Forge) last month and I highly recommend them. Gas Forges: Metal & Heat Treatment Equipment: Flamefast Brian
  5. Hi, I have a small forge in Athenry, Co Galway. I am a complete begineer so I'd love to meet some experienced hands and try to learn a bit. Brian
