  1. Well, I've finally begun my attempt at slapping together a brake drum forge, as it says in the title of course. I can't say it's welds are great, but it's pretty solid so far. Going to work a bit more on getting the legs set up properly, but for my first creative welding attempt, I'm decently happy with it. Any recommendations are welcome of course. I can't wait to get this thing fired up. Don't laugh too hard now. I'll probably go back and fix it soon enough.
  2. I need my music when I work, a perfect blacksmithing song would be "Lord of the Blacksmiths" by Falconer. It is power metal with a great singer. Very melodical voice. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FoYSwGNGksQ
  3. Hey folks, I've been lurking amongst the threads for about a year now, sighing wistfully at all the projects and tools people have been kind enough to share, hoping to some day try my hand at smithing. It has been something I've wanted to do every sense I was a wee little kid. Anywho, I'm in the military and for now, in the Alaska area. After much consideration and looking around through the near limitless amounts of scrap metal I come across, I've begun collecting the pieces I need for a brake drum forge. Hopefully I can get that assembled soon. For now, making chainmail has been keeping me content I suppose. I'm pretty new to actual metal working as well; just learned how to weld and use a plasma cutter the other day. I've already learned plenty here and look forward to learning so much more. Sam the Ox
