  1. Option 3 Tell friend to take a hike and get help. I will stay and guard our stuff.
  2. When I was working at a paper plant I found that Paraffin Hand Wax is a great product. It was heated in pot. It is well worth haveing around. I have one in my shop now use it about once a day.
  3. The tig IMHO would vaporize the lead and create a very serious health issues. Lead vaporizes at about 700F. Electric current flowing through high resistance air gap generates an intense arc with temperatures ranging from 6,000 to 10,000
  4. Another way you can go is to pull the two ends to the lathe. Find the centers drill and tap both ends. Use a good grade of all thread and thread them together. Then you can v-notch and weld as suggested above. I can not see both ends of the project and so I do not know if you are able to do this, but it is an alternative fix. Best of luck
  5. Thomas thank you I will look into it. Thank for the welcome Larry
  6. Thanks Glen I have made my way there.
  7. Hello all Not much to say other than I am new to smithing. Like I have no idea what I am doing . I have been working with metal most of my life welding, cutting, pipe bending and fitting. Just seem like a good direction to take now. Thanks teejay for pointing me in the direction for information and help. I mainly interested in forge welding and producing damascus knives.
