Here is a Buffalo forge which I picked up recently. Does anyone know the model number or the approximate years of production? My catalogue shows, and the other fabricated(not cast iron) Buffalo forges I find on-line have cross braced legs rather than the cast iron corner brackets which mine has. The chimney pipe is 8 inch and it appears that the smith who used it added some extra sheet metal to the hood – presumably to improve draft?
That is a really cool looking old stand.

Good to hear.

My peter wright has really good rebound but it doesn't ring at all. Always heard a good one rings well. Mine is in really good condition though.

I've got a small champion 16" x 18" that I am currently converting into a larger one. Found a heavy metal cart with a lip all around. Just got through cutting a square to fit the forge down into.

My walls are all cinder block. Thinking about just having one of the maintenance guys at work cut me out a circle in a plate of aluminum and using high temp silicone around it.

Right, don't want to burn my shed down.

How did you guys run flashing around your chimney pipe? My shop roof has very little slope at all. Wood top with rolled roofing. I saw a flashing online that had a metal base and thermoplastic ring. Rated at 215 degrees didn't know how hot your pipes will get.

Do you happen to know who the maker of that largest vice pictured is? I just got a 5" that looks almost like it. Same back nut, same square vice arms, same type of handle. No marks that I can see.
These were just hanging out at yestryearforge.

Good morning. What are leg vices going for nowadays? Looking for one around 5" wide and have read people getting them for under $100. Been searching 3 different states around me and have yet to find one anywhere around that unless it's missing parts. Thanks for any help.

Thank you sir.

Yep, that's it.
-
Can't find a number on it.

I've tried the search but might be missing it, what is the jam nut large set screw to the right under the handle for?

Working on an old concrete pad next to my garage right now for my stuff to keep it out of the weather. Tryin to figure out how to configure a sheetmetal hood for it but that will be a different post.

That's some neat gearing on that forge. Never seen one like that.

Thanks again. Left a voicemail for the guy in Millersville.

Not near that good yet. Might try it though. Those things are pricy. Watched a guy on YouTube make one.

Never mind. Mapquested the address and yes it's really close to me. Thanks. Beats walking the railroad tracks and picking of up like I use to do.

Looking around at a couple of hardies for my new to me anvil. Lucked out and had a good friend give me an old champion cut off hardy. Now just looking for a bottom fuller. Are the ones on eBay made of Ductile iron any good? They are lower in price but figured it might be for a reason. Thanks again for any help.

Is that the millersville just a little northeast of Jackson missouri in cape county? That's really close to me.

Title says it all. Question that is. :)
