soldering guards on a knife how do you do it?

i have tried to solder on guards and have failed miserably it sucks to put all of that time into what could be a cool knife and then get to the guard and hit a complete wall. -
The knife looks awesome, I have have made a few knives out of files but never had a cool pattern like yours nice work!

hello im pretty new here to the site ive been making knives for about two years now i would like to find someone here in or near central florida that offers some type of bladesmithing classes or traning,so that i can better my craft any info would be helpful thanks
