i would only bring
a small bellows
a ballpeen hammer
a pice of L shaped pipe
and a high carbon plate aboul 2cm thick with spikes to nail it to a tree stump or something, to use as an anvil
plus some iron
i would use wood/hand made charcoal for fule -

it is a medium size hunter type knife it is flat ground except i did most the edge work on a bench grinder then followed it up in the linisher and final on a whet stone.
as for matrials it is made from coil spring from a truck, it is hardend in oil and temperd to a medium straw colour.
allso it is quite thick.

Hey guy i just finished what i call my first 'real' knife and was wondering how to get it real sharp and what sort of edges would be good for it.
i will try to post a pic some time tomorrow
feel free to talk about different techniques and such.

first of i would like to know if any one has any handle making and fastning tips ?
and second can any one tell me if re-rod is sutable for blades?

the left one is trasmition shaft
the middle just mild steel (after al it is just a letter opener.)
and the dagger is made from an old chisel. -
right so the one on the left was the first ever "thing" that i forged
the one in the middle is a neat letter opener that i designed
andthe one on the right is my lattest effort -

hey guys if you didnt read my intro then im not going to introduse myself again. I would like to post some pictures of my knives but i know not how so if someone could plz explain to my the process of getting a picture on here then i would gladly share my first attempts at blade smithing. i belive that i have 3 lieing around some were that i could dig up.

how long have you been smithing/making for cos that is awesome man
