impresive lock amazeing ,would love to see a movie of it in action ,the gate lock that i saw many years ago was like a chinese puzzle on a chain ,very effective and fairly easy to make ,hmmm must be slowing down a bit ,cant remember how it went ,seeya ,glen

gday mate ,were about 1 and a half hours from brisbane ,amazeing amount of water going through there ,you may have seen footage of toowoomba and surrounding towns this is were where they were caught totaly by surprise,they say a seven to eight metre wall of water went through, some small towns were completely wiped out(tragically searching for folk in the area still a huge amount missing)gympie the place we live close to had local lo lying flooding the river reached its peak 2 days ago at 19.3 metres it flooded some housing and about 40 bussiness went under ,but its receding at the present moment,like a huge amount of communities up here we are cut off with the road under north and south,this is affecting 75 percent of queensland and will take years to get back

we used to make repo convict ball and chains out of them looked the part for sure,problem for us was getting them

gave up useing coal a few years ago,waiting for the fire to burn in late 1 afternoon ,a shaft of light shone in the smithy in the coal smoke it seemed like millions of shards of glass spining around,cant get good coke around hear use only charcoal now

thanks for that, i make a lot of odd shaped things and would be better to hold it firmly,will go to the forge and make something up ,nice looking smithy you have there,will take some pics and send them to the site soon as i figre out how to shrink them down ,cheers ,glen

ahh so its just draped over the anvil ,thought it may have been clamped with some type of foot operated clamp ,thanks for that will fire the forge 2 morrow and put it in place,glen

hi all ,great site ,saw a pic of someones anvil and they used a motorcycle chain as a hold down tool ,couldn't see clear enough to see how it worked ,anybody seen this type of device ,cheers

incredable view to the past and the social pecking order of the time,welding toe calks on horse shoes are something i've never heard of,hmmm.. most enjoyed an ale or 2,thought it was just me :D cheers

bloody,sort of reminds me about stupid things we used to do with match heads 2 bolts and a nut many of those things vanished :blink:

a piece of railway track ,a car spring and an old kero torch 12 years of age,yep took forever
