  1. thanks again. i'm sure i'll have a few more questions for ya... appreciate all your help.
  2. thanks for all the info - quite helpful as i continue to figure this hammer out. here's a basic question: when adjusting spring tension, where should ram be in it's stroke? i've been putting a one inch block between dies and tightening springs pretty much all the way.
  3. right side roller bearing has flatspotted and worn 1/4" groove into ram. the saddles on the spring where the bearing seats also show uneven wear. any suggestions on what material to make new bearing from? 1045? any tricks to refacing inside of ram other than welding and grinding? also - the yoke has a slight bend near the top (pictured) - wondering if it's worth the effort to straighten it out. thanks!
  4. howdy, just acquired a 150 # champion beaudry. have some questions about setting the top die height. what's the best way to do this? and how does one accurately assess where the bronze ram wedge should be located? got a million more questions (or i will have) but those are the pressing ones. thanks, hunter
  5. hey there beaudry owners, i recently acquired a number 6 champion. i've pulled the bull wheel and clutch assembly and all looks good there and i got 'er back on. now i'm tackling the front side. got it all apart and then back on and now am trying to set height of top die. specs say 1 1/4" space between dies. what's the best way to do this? and how do i ensure that my brass wedge is located correctly? any answers, observations, or moral support would be greatly appreciated! thanks, hunter
