  2. Thanks Scurry, two times is better than none!

Crete is in, wood next week.

I think we may have a new leader in the power hammer test soon :P

I noticed that you have not isolated the plinth to the wall, why? Would not it be better to isolate the plinth from the floor with material capable of absorbing the vibrations?
  3. I actually bought 2 new clamps, (or rather I have reconditioned 2) a is smaller than the one painted in blue, while the larger one that I set the table.

  4. I thought they are out of business as their old site isn't working anymore.

    @GiFerro

could you make some pictures of the "inside" of the hammer, to see how it works, adjustments, etc. I'm very curious, but I think I'm not the only one. I've seen that hammer just in "official" pictures till now and not from an actual user.
    how does it work?

Hello Matei, I can just do a few pictures of the hammer, is one of my older leaf is a little less strong than those autocompressori but they told me that they are more accurate in determining the shots and their construction with mechanical parts are less likely to broken ... the new models have a workaround but more or less have the same effect.
A motor at 380 volts. that spins a large pulley and inside has a clutch, more prizes the more the clutch pedal moves away from the pulley and the bat drops faster when soft has a double system to stop the travel, the leaf springs have only the task to amortize the strongest blows that's all .... I wanted to costruirmene one hand, but on balance should not waste time, my used cost me about 2000 euros about $ 2500, if you consider that weighs about 900 kg. I spent a lot of money just for the material, here in Italy they are also cheaper, mine is used very little hammers has provided new again
  5. I just bought a 60 kg hammer spring. around the hammer weighs about 900 kg.
It was already anchored on blocks of wood, but I would like to use some other material to be placed between concrete and hammer to avoid vibrations on the top floor of the building, (I fear that the constant vibrations can cause damage to the building).
Anchored to the floor as soon as I did the tests and on the upper floor vibrated even dishes on the kitchen, now after having cut the concrete around the perimeter of the hammer isolating the structure should have solved the problem? Vibrations decreased by much but still experience are waiting for an expert to be able to do the checks I ask you if there is ever something you have experiences in this regard, or advice that I can give? Thank you all.

Hello there are 2 types of glass:
    1) Temperate of up to 400 °
    2) The other here in Italy called "glass ceramic" has a heat resistance of 800 °.
In both cases the iron is fastened with a minimum of tolerance to avoid damage to the twist of iron, you have several options for mounting the cheapest and perhaps the miles is to use silicon at high temperatures.

  7. i have just used boiled linseed and then a coating of butchers wax or min wax dark polish...here lateley I ha been using just the linseed oil and a tourch ....if you take the piece and heat it with a propane torch after swabbing it with linseed ...different temps give different hues...I got a cool red color the other day just with the torch and linseed ....heat it a little longer nad you bring it to a brass or bronze color...so its more than just getting the piece to some hot temp and burning the oil...different temps and time change the hue u get...I also use mothers carnuba wax that removes oxidation ...so you can vary the color on a piece to highlight...guilders paste is cool too ..a little expensive but used sparingly goes a long way...again its a time and temp thing

How do you rub linseed on the metal?
  8. I found this link hammer used should have a club of 60 kg., has a broken spring, but they assured me that it works, they asked me $ 1000 the equivalent of about 700-800 U.S. dollars what you think and make a purchase from you think?
I have never used a hammer but it's always been my dream, I have the opportunity to spend a lot of DIY but because I wanted this money used to buy it might be worth what you think thanks and sorry for my bad English.

  10. I would like to enrich my work in some iron with some noble metal, for now I can only find brass and copper, would you give me some advice on how to solder on the iron?
I have seen work with applications in brass nails that did not show it as it welds can I get something?
In Italy the name given to this technique is "geminatura"

  11. excuse me for prying into the conversation, I would understand if should heat the copper to work or is more convenient to work in cold?
I want to forge something in copper ring or bracelet and I wanted some heat it in the forge my concern is the poisoning by copper, some precautions should I take on this?
Thank you and sorry for my bad english I write from italy ....
