  1. I made a brake drum forge about a year ago and it works just fine. I welded a triangle out of angle iron for the brake drum to sit in and welded three legs and some braces on it . you WILL want to make it in the tripod style, trust me from experience.they are a whole lot stabler than four legged ones. I'll try and get some pictures for ya but it may take awhile (picky computer ) Glenn is right though, you will want to upgrade when you can, 'cause brake drums are VERY limiting. I'm buying a forge from my friend as soon as he gets another one from his friend out of state, but till then it'll work. Good luck one your school project, too
  2. I only have but two hammers (so far ) , so i dont use a different hammer for tooling.
  3. I LOVED that park!!!!!!!! WOW ! its a small world is'nt it? every time we went to Spearfish i wanted to go there!
  4. This is the best site I have found in five years of looking!!! thanks to all who have made it possible! I'm 17 years old and have wanted to be a blacksmith for 11 years, ever since watching a demonstration in denver CO. I lived in denver for six years ,lead SD for seven and macomb MO for four, so i have been all over the place. I just built a brake drum forge about a year ago and only just recently got fairly decent coal ,so I have been having some trouble, but now that i have all of y'all to ask questions of, i should do better! Thanks again to all of y'all!! doug
