Heres an anvil stand Brian Brazeal showed me how to build. It is very stable, holds tools, at the perfect height, and anchored to the floor.

Interesting.... does it ring much on a strike, I have a bit of trouble with that with the stand that I currently have.

That is a good question Corlupi, it does not ring, it is a very quiet anvil, because it is firmly fastened to the stand and the stand is anchored to the floor. I drilled and tapped the bottom of this anvil with some large bolts, therefore it is secured down. A steel bas is very quiet as long as everything is fastened together. Brian pointed this out to me, I was not aware of it till then.
