Corey D
Hello! Another apsiring craftsman new to the trade from the Des Moines, Iowa area. Ive been reading and watching videos on blacksmithing for years now but only recently have been able to start gathering the tools neccessary to start. I work for a structural steel fabrication company and lucked out while cleaning the attic out. An old cast iron forge that was pieced together, a blower I had to repair, and a few bags of coal were all just sitting up there! A few hammers were donated and a pair of tongs. I now am in the process of clearing space in the garage for everything and still looking for more tools and knowledge. I will soon dive into all the threads here at IFI to begin collecting all the bits of wisdom and advice the more experienced smiths have to offer. In the meantime any tips or threads to be directed to are much appreciated. I look forward to learning and sharing with you all.
njanvilman
Pull up a chair and read, then read more here on IFI. There is a wealth of knowledge here with a lot of people willing to share. Read first, then ask questions. And don't forget the safety aspect of this craft. Very easy to get bitten.
