Charlotte Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 I have two mouse hole anvils that need build of the striking surface. Circumstances have change for me and I've been out of touch for a while. What is the current thinking on the preferred rod for this type of buildup repair. I'd really like a non-checking stress relief. Several years ago I did a repair with DC hard facing rod using a rectified three phase welder. Now I'm stuck with single phase AC. A quality machine but more of light repair and small assembly Hobart Welder. I happen to love the mouse hole anvils. I find their quieter sound and feel more than the cast steel anvils. They also tend to have a broader face in proportion to the length. I got a deal on them because they were so beat up. Quote
