May 10, 201313 yr Hey so i thort id post up a pic of my first half successful billet. Its made from bandsaw blade, pallet straping and 3mm mild steel flat section. The reason its not fully welded is bcoz the middle layer delaminated(the mild steel) probly bcoz i didnt get it hot enuf. Well heres a pic before the etch and tomorow ill add one with the etch. Just doing a test etch of coke, salt, vinegar and sum lemn juice. The mixture is nice and hot and billets soaking over night. Before the etch.
May 11, 201313 yr Author After the etch and a light sand of 1000grit wet n dry. Didnt seem to do much. Sliitly disappointed but will try a straight white vinegar etch soon.
May 12, 201313 yr Author CAn any1 tell me if ferric chloride can be made by adding iron to hydrochloric acid?
May 12, 201313 yr it it not, ferric chloride's chemical formula is FeCl (Iron + Chlorine) and hydrochloric acid is HCl (Hydrogen + Chlorine) Josh
