May 4, 201214 yr New guy here! I'm in the DFW area. I got a wild hair to take a blacksmithing class at a community college last year and have been a weekend warrior ever since. I'm slowly getting my own workspace together and have been lurking here as a non-member for a while. I'm looking forward to seeing more of the awesome work many of you produce for inspiration. May 4, 201214 yr Howdy from East TEXAS!! and welcome to IFI! Guess you took the class from Kelly, right? I encourage you to hook up with the North Texas Blacksmith Assoc. great bunch of guys and willing to help newbies. http://www.ntxba.org is their site, they meet the 2nd Sat of each month....normally. Also the Saltfork Craftsmen and Artist Blacksmith Assoc. http://wwwsaltforkcraftsmen.org is their site and there is usually a meeting somewhere every Sat., they are in Oklahoma and also a great bunch of folks. I just over in the Longview area, about 120mi from Dallas, so if you are ever this way give me a holler. My shop is always open.
May 5, 201214 yr Author I appreciate the offer, Thomas! I've been through two of Kelly's classes so far. I'll probably be taking one more in the winter semester. I've been to one NTBA meeting through the class and am hoping to get there more often.
