Newbie from Kansas

New member from Topeka introducing myself. I have been a machinist professionally 15 years and have had a hobby shop almost as long. Some thing about metal working really appeals to me. I am looking at trying my hand at some other areas of metalwork and that is how I ended up here. (I guess I just needed longer tool want and project lists.)

From your signature and description, it sounds like you may be a moldmaker. Welcome - it's always good to have folks with experience other than blacksmithing on the forum; makes for a wider set of viewpoints on problem solving. I worked in the injection molding biz for almost 20 years and that experience sometimes helps me in the shop.

Yes, I worked in injection molding for 8 years. A lot of mold repair & troubleshooting and some mold making. I liked the work but they were making fewer & fewer
new molds so I left to get more spindle time.

Yes, I am a subscriber on PM. I don't post a lot over there - primarily because there just aren't enough hours in the day to visit all the forums I like. However, I found lots of help on PM when I was repairing my Colchester Clausing lathe; it's a great site and good resource.
