Hello from North Carolina

Featured Replies

My name is Robert and I'm from Sanford, NC. I've been working with metal on and off for the past five years or so and last year get setup where I could start smithing. I haven't been able to do a whole lot because of commitments to other things going one. I am a Civil War reenactor and I also volunteer at a railroad museum near here. Those two things alone eat up most of my time, but this year I'm carving out some time to make a little bit of extra side money, and taking a bit of a break from the steam locomotive I work with regularly.

The first two pictures are the forge I have now. The 3rd one is my first project, and the last two are the forge I'm going to build for this year and the tuyre that will go in the bottom.

You've done far more then I have. Right now I'm just trying to get my wood shop in order. I'm probably going to wait to set anything up until after I attend a class.

It's a start, I've worked with metal off and on for years. I'd love to go up and take some classes there, but I don't have the time with work and everything
