danielb
I just stumbled across this anvil the other day. It was in a pile of really cool stuff that was going to be scrapped. Now, as a new anvil owner that knows very little about them, I was hoping you could help me with some information. I have determined that it is a Trenton. I looks to be in great shape, no welds or repairs. The serial # is A97760. What is the age? The logo on this anvil is upside down. Is this unusual or does it have any significance? I am happy with my find and have not considered selling it but what is the approximate value of this anvil? Thanks
Sask Mark
Cool. I have a 110 pound trenton from 1899 that is also stamped upside down. I'm guessing they were just 'oops!' from the factory. If noone else provides the age of your anvil, I can do it when I get home tonight and reference my copy of Anvils in America. I'm not going to venture into the 'what is it's approximate value' question, because you will get dozens of different answers.
CurlyGeorge
Hey, I just got my new copy of Anvils in America. According to the serial # that you give, your anvil was made in 1910. What is the weight of your anvil? Do you know?
danielb
Thanks for the date. Very helpful. It is stamped 75 to the left of the serial number but I have not weighed it to confirm.
CurlyGeorge
If it is stamped 75, according to AIA, that should be the weight, or very close. Glad to be of help. :D
